Bookings 1.8 is packed with a ton of new options to help your company run efficiently. These features are described summarized:

What's new in 1.8?
What's the latest in 1.8?

With this release, it is now possible to take reservations which span several days. Additionally, we've added the capability to provide discounts when several guests book together, and add the buffer between your reservations.

This is a review of some amazing new features that are available to be found in Bookings Version 1.8.

The bookings continue into the following day

Before Bookings 1.8 to 1.8, services with minutes or hours of duration did not have the ability to be extended from one day to the next. 1.8 adds that capability, which means you are able to now provide overnight bookings.

As an example, suppose you run a business that rents out party buses. It could be necessary to provide an overnight lease (such as from 6am to 11pm the following day). Bookings 1.8 gives you the power to make this happen.

Buffering times

There are plenty of reasons you might need an extra time period between appointment. You might run an office for dental patients and have to prepare the room for the next patient. Maybe you need a break.

1.8 allows you to set buffer times to set buffer periods for minute, hour and day time bookings. The buffers allow breaks to automatically be built into your daily schedule.

The products that have a duration of either hours or minutes may have buffer periods of set minutes, creating the appearance of a set schedule. The products with a length of days however are able to have buffers that span entire days.

As an example, suppose that your business leases a piece of equipment out, and then you deliver it between customers. In order to allow yourself enough time between bookings to get your item delivered to the next customer, use 1.8 to establish an interval of several days between every.

Rules on availability priority

In the early days of Bookings permitted you to establish guidelines at the global, product, and resource levels. Global rules would always take precedence over the rules for products, and the rules for product would be given the precedence over rules for resource.

1.8 is now offering more precise control through the ability to define priorities for rules. You can set up your schedule as you want it.

Offer discounts per person

When you use Bookings 1.8 it is possible to create coupons that offer a certain amount off per person in a single reservation.

For example, if you own an escape room company, and you want to encourage customers to get even more friends to join in then you could create a coupon that offers $2 off per person. If a group of four people book an escape room mystery, they would get $8 off. If a group with ten individuals book the mystery, they will get $20 off, etc.

Bookings 1.8 also include...

  • Corrections to multiple bugs, improving the general reliability of Bookings.
  • The new "partially reserved" indicator, which works on day blocks, allowing multiple reservations.
  • Adjustment to respect your time and date format settings.
  • Some developer improvements including translation fixes, a new get_wc_booking_statuses() function, and support for person types in create_wc_booking().

Upgrade instructions

Version 1.8 is a major update to the Bookings extension, and includes several changes. Before updating, please:
