The Next Chapter in Our story - WordPress the Membership plugin Member Sites

The Next Chapter

When I was in 2008 I teamed up with one of my most trusted acquaintances from the time. Stu McLaren, myself and I put our skills together and came up with Member.

We didn't know we would embark on an incredible and unimaginable adventure. WordPress is growing at a phenomenal growth rate. This was an exciting time. There was no clear answer, but there was a lot of evidence that WordPress would surpass both Joomla and Drupal.

In order to better comprehend, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga were a hit in the eyes of the general public when they were fresh faces in the industry of music. The majority of us were in elementary school at the time we founded our business.

Within the world of marketing the Internet the discussion of membership websites were the topic in the streets. There weren't any options for creating an online membership website using WordPress. A lot of development firms focused on themes. This meant that the marketplace to purchase premium plugins was largely inaccessible.

We considered it an opportunity to take actions promptly. Mike Lopez was our Jedi programmerswho were proficient in creating whatever we asked him with. He created the initial version of Member by himself in less than three months.

Similar to my earlier companies in software, we too realized the necessity to find the solution. So, we came up with a viable solution to the common issue. It is no surprise that Member was able to experience rapid expansion. In the first year, sales were entirely based on words of word. The company expanded in only one year before we spent no money advertising.

It's the kind of possibilities entrepreneurs dream of.

The beginning of our existence when we began our company, we were approached by our first enquiry about selling our company. It was a wonderful idea, but they were looking for companies with a solid CEO who was ready to step down. We were young and full of enthusiasm and enthusiasm, therefore it made zero sense.

Then, at the end of this day's activities, first inquiry proved to be a solid evidence. This person was "Built to Sell" as were people who were selling their products.

Following the initial question I was conversing to an acquaintance whom I considered to be a reliable advisor. His entrepreneurial experience includes owning several different businesses. One is that's an investment firm called a Venture Capital. Its founder was also a seller of firms previously. It's no surprise that the man is an expert.

My friend shared an essential point. He explained "the key to selling your business is to find the purchaser and make sure that everything you conduct about your business an ideal match."

This was logical to me, but there were some minor issues. As an associate, is not a business that just one partner who wants. This is a joint venture which all the partners have signed a contract to create in collaboration. A second reason is it is impossible to identify the purchaser.

At some point, Stu and I decided to team up and sign Mike into an associate. I think it was the year 2010.

This was an abrupt change during the latter half of 2014. Stu decided to keep his focus on education , and to focus on teaching others how to create effective membership websites. Mike and I both remained with the firm that made software.

In a matter of moments, I took on the role of most powerful shareholder and the shareholder. It was very scary but also exciting the at the same time.

My group of leaders and I also made a visit to Colorado for a focus on planning.

We recognized that we needed to perform some reconfiguring. The focus of our company had to shift towards what we've achieved through the years, and then become sure of what we're capable of achieving in the future. Personally, I abandoned the notion of having an organization that I might have an interest in purchasing rather than think about what kind of company I'd like to see.

These past few decades have taught me a lot. One simple lesson is that is isolation is the death of business owners. It can be lonely in the business world at times. There is no better way to develop relationships and establish friendships than helping creating harmony and peace for those around you.

It's hard to predict the exact moment at which relationships will evolve into a genuine connection...

I was introduced to Micah Mitchell at a conference. Micah Mitchell was the partner of a person who was on similar applications to the one I met. It was believed that the company was an important competitor. I wasn't thinking much about it , but thought that I was an admirer of his, and was interested in learning more about him.

In the following years, Micah had left his prior partnership and started the company that was later named Memberium. People would have believed that Micah was not a competitor. But what I do know is that I was a fan of him.

The confirmation came after I met him at the security checkpoint on the way to the airport. Both of us shared an amazing time discussing the things we had been doing at our respective workplaces. Then we realized that we had been assigned to sit with each other during the flight. Is this an op-ed? It's true that someone put it together. It was just completely random.

While on that journey, we began thinking about the perfect April Fool's Day joke in which we'd reveal that Micah has just purchased Members. The idea was that the acquisition could be named Memberium. It is possible to include 360 in the title, to give it more interest. Anyone who is reading this article will understand.

The initial incident of having a seat assigned randomly near my rival software (thanks Delta!) became a very long-term friendship. We would get together every month to discuss the business world over dinner over the next two years. The conversations eventually concluded when my family and I relocated to Tennessee. Our friendships were fantastic all across Utah too. It was tough to leave them behind.

I enjoy designing software. The thrill of seeing your idea realized is exhilarating. This is especially true when you're working alongside an amazing team, and your products are stronger than you ever thought that you would be able to make. One excellent instance is our most recent update to the course add-ons that are accessible to all members.

Even though it's just as thrilling as you think, the truth is that it's not easy. After you've crossed the 1 yard mark, and are close to scoring, you may be running through the air, exhausted from all of the effort.

After we finished the work of creating and releasing the new product I became very exhausted. I came to the conclusion that the most effective option is to find an honest Partner in the area of marketing. Someone who was knowledgeable about the market and could assist me to get Member up to the next level. I've made some phone calls to my best acquaintances working in the field. My wife has informed me that Micah is on my shortlist. I promised to call Micah on the next day.

At the moment I called Micah I received an SMS. It was like being seated alongside Micah in the airplane. It's not always easy to discern when events occur due to a reason.

The discussion drew to the possibility that I could offer Member to Micah's firm MemberShipper and to the business that provides Memberium. What we had been doing together with Member was exactly the sort that MemberShipper was looking for to add to their portfolio.

Over the years, I've had numerous solicitations to sell my company. It's never been easy until now. I was very concerned to ensure that Member remain a growing business. Additionally, I was keen to make sure that my incredible team were looked after.

As each day progressed, it became increasingly clear it was this the most effective option for the team members, as well as for team, as well as for the thousands and thousands wonderful customers who are with us for so many years.

I'm extremely thankful for the teams of leaders from every side. They've put in a lot of energy to ensure that the transition is as smooth as can be for me. It's quite impressive to see all of them working together.

The most frequently asked inquiries I receive is "What's next in your life? ".

Although I think I'm really good at taking a break and taking a break, I really need a break. I'm looking forward to taking this time to have some individual time.

What's the importance of being A Member?

In simple phrases, you can be sure that the team will continue offering new and fresh suggestions. The platform for members continues to be improved and developed. The platform won't stop.

I'm eager to collaborate together with Micah along with Micah and the team members during the year. I'm in a job that could simply describe as my dream job. I am currently the "Director of Strategic Partnerships" for both brands. Both are controlled by MemberShipper.

Expect to see me at a variety of events in the near future. My approach is to provide the best benefits that are possible throughout the course throughout the entire year. It's thrilling to watch Member progress to the next level under Micah's supervision.

There's a chance that I'll remain longer than you imagined.

I've never been more hopeful about the future of Members than I am right now. Members is only beginning to begin.

You can read Micah's full announcement concerning the acquisition on this page.
