MRR and ARR Calculation

In the past the process of upgrading, downgrading, and add-ons were occasionally not properly tracked or reported when it came to reporting on subscriptions. The issues were addressed in the past, and calculations should become more accurate in the future.

What Changes Should I See in My Store?

If you're a frequent use of upgrades, downgrades or other add-ons it is possible that you will see you MRR and ARR vary slightly resulting from the updated calculations. The calculations are more precise as compared to previous reports with the fixes that have been identified. If you are still unsure, please reach out to [email protected].

Historic MRR Changes

In the past, we relied on the date of deactivation to search for the date of cancellation and then removed MRR contributions. This had the unfortunate side effect changing the historical MRR values. To address this the issue, we've updated our analysis to record cancellation events on the day of cancellation and take away MRR contributions at the time of cancellation.

Examples of changes

We will consider an annual subscription that was activated in January 2023. It was cancelled in May 2023, it was deactivated by the end of December. The prior MRR contribution calculation wouldn't be changed until the end of the end of December 2023. This could have altered the MRR contribution during the time of May to December of 2023.

In the present, using the dates in the above example, our calculation immediately removes the MRR contribution of the contract, beginning at the end of May in 2023 which results in a more precise MRR changes calculation.

What are the changes I should see in My Store?

Some sellers might result in an increase in the number of cancellations and a decrease in MRR for subscribers and customers who are active. If you have questions about the reporting process, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
