Non-digital collages CreativeMindClass Blog

"I live and work within Bristol UK and studied Illustration at Brighton UK. I've been an active artist as well as an illustrator since the year 2013. my interest has slowly altered over the years. From vibrant colorful character drawings to more abstract and challenging work. The method I use to produce work is using collage and drawing together or mixing them often with 3D. I also self-publish as with creating numerous comics and zines."

What's your preferred style to create your collage?

"Primarily non-digital" (though it's a personal decision, however the traditional and digital ways of doing work are both viable and equally efficient) along with plenty of texture in the paper. I was a fan of numerous vibrant colors, but I've tried to get more reflective and mature in regards to my colors in the past few times. I'm trying to put a great deal of importance on composition as well as the shape. My style is very playful as I see the collages as well the drawings that I draw as an act of playing or performing an activity that is fun."

What's the secret to creating collages?

"It's difficult to choose what is the main factor that influences my approach to producing illustrations, as well as other works of art. The feeling of having fun playing, enjoying, and feeling happy is the principal reason I produce artworks. It is my goal to always find ways to integrate this into the work I make. When I work on art, I tell me: "If I'm not enjoying doing this specific piece, then I should not make it and I'll come up with a different technique'. Most of the time with illustrations, I have found that, in order to get the best results simplicing things can help. If I'm overwhelmed in details, or particular ideas or concepts, then it's time to take a break and get back to basics. In the majority of cases it is something that can be applied to any the content of any form."

"I made a piece in support of a significant project that has just been announced in the UK known as Communitea. 55 artists , including myself are invited to make an artwork that showed the bonds we share with Chinese tradition. This work is now being sold as posters on Roomfifty which is where the profits will go to prevent closing the London Chinese Community centre from closing, and to combat the rising tide of hate towards Asians."
