This is an initiative that aims to reduce Google's power in app distribution and the charging of its platform. The monopoly of "nearly total power" generates billions annually for Google and the court's decision could alter this process in the same way as Google estimating potential costs of up to 600 million dollars.

Google has expressed concern about the fact that opening up to allow access to the Play Store to apps could expose customers to security risk, leading to the kind of situation Google calls "security chaos. " In spite of these issues, judge Donato stressed that there's an urgent need for a comprehensive revision, noting "We will remove any barriers, and that's going to happen."
