Motion and space in illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Ever since as a young child I've loved to draw, paint, and play with my hands. It was and always has been my most natural method to express myself. But growing in Taiwan the pursuit of the art of making was often looked down upon and often instructed by my parents to learn the more practical aspects of art otherwise I'd end up starving on the streets.
Fortunately, my Mom was always encouraging me to do whatever I wanted and did anything she could to assist me achieve my objectives. When I returned in the United States and graduating high school, I made the decision that I would like to make art profession.

I was accepted into ArtCenter College of design, studying Illustration with the intention of going into feature animation. However, along the way I came across motion graphics and fell in love with their versatility as well as all it's amazing art work done by those I admire.

How would you describe your style?
I am still on the road to discovering a style I am able to confidently claim as my own. I have the tendency to be drawn to trying different things from time to time... For instance, one month I'll want to do very colorful things, soon I'll experiment with organic colors. be really into a shape driving style for a time, one day suddenly I'll get bored of it and want to try a style that's based on lines.

Sometimes, I'll attempt to merge opposite things that seem fascinating to me like I'm on a never-ending journey to explore and discover. After fumbling a bit here and there I'm beginning to notice there are some designs, colours, or compositions I'm attracted to. Maybe that's a start of an aesthetic?

It's one of the reasons I enjoy working for Oddfellows, sometimes I still cannot believe that I'm fortunate to be part of an amazing group of individuals. We are required the ability to change our style depending on the project. virtually every project has to be completed using different methods as well as I'm getting new knowledge from my coworkers every day.

What is the key to drawing your artwork?
I love to draw drawings of subjects I am intrigued or curious in. I then attempt to give my own spin to it.
However, my main goal is having fun. Fun is key to making anything that viewers are able to see that a creator was having enjoyment performing something... the extra shine.
