When Pooja Bavishi took the choice to establish her business for the ice cream, Malai, she had the clarity of her personal goals. "I made Malai in order to honor the food I was raised by as a young Indian American in a popular fashion and mass-market style," she says.

"Everyone remembers ice cream from their childhood  The vast majority of them are of taking a trip to your local frozen yogurt shop and sharing an indulgence with the most loved people," Pooja says. This nostalgia-infused flurry is what is bringing Malai from the stalls at market stalls and food stores in the local area into freezers that can be found in grocery stores along with pop-up carts all over New York City, and the popular flagship store located in Brooklyn with local and national delivery.
