Bring a brick and mortar business to existence

A hair salon that had curly locks was a goal of Nia's. "I was a frequent traveler to America for my hair to be done, as it was difficult to find a salon in London and even in within the UK," she says. "I was looking to design an experience that was relaxed and comfortable and also reflected my vision of what I would like to be as an aspiring young woman." The patrons were enthusiastic about her idea. The moment the book's doors opened at The Curl Bar The appointments were quickly booked.

"Your life will be altered when you choose to start an enterprise. Make sure you're ready for the change." Nia offers advice to business owners who want to start their own businesses. No one could have predicted the extent of changes that would be coming for Nia as well as The Curl Bar. Two months after the salon's opening, the salon was shut down for a duration due to COVID-19 shut downs within the UK. But even a brief stop in operations didn't hinder Nia down.

"I didn't have a plan for growing the company or even in the case of an epidemic," she says. "I just view each moment as an opportunity to learn from and to learn from." In the event that The Curl Bar was closed, Nia shifted her focus to social media. She was engaging with stylists as well as her fans electronically until The Curl Bar was able to safely open again.
