U.S. District Judge James Donato has issued a stern warning to Google that big changes are expected to be implemented to the Android application store following an investigation by a jury found that the Play Store was operating as a monopoly that was illegally operated.

According to the Associated Press reports that Judge Donato has suggested that he may ask Google to let alternatives to stores for apps available on Android devices. This is aimed at reducing Google's monopoly over the distribution of apps and its payment system. This monopoly with "nearly complete power" generates billions annually for Google However, the decision by the court could change this procedure, and Google projecting costs as high as 600 million dollars.

Google has expressed concerns regarding the possibility that allowing to allow to open the Play Store to third-party app stores could expose customers to security threats, which could lead to what they describe as "security disorder. " Despite these worries Judge Donato stressed the need for significant changes, noting that "We are gonna break away the obstacles and we'll see it happen."
