How to Get out of the craziness of coaching -
Most coaches I know have a feeling of being overwhelmed by everything they need to complete.
The company isn't sure who their dream customer is.
They have too many offers.
They do too many things to attempt to create awareness and leads.
It's not easy for them to figure out how to sign up people for their program.
There are too many applications that require them to glue together with zaps and rubber bands.
They put too much effort into their clients to end up burning out, even though they love to coach.
Do any of these resonate with you?
There are three types of overwhelm that I routinely witness coaches struggle with:
Strategy overwhelm
Client overwhelm
Systems are overwhelmed
Let's look at them one at a time.
Strategy Overwhelm
When it comes to strategies, the majority of coaches have numerous offers. They're doing too many things to try and get attention and get leads, but often, they aren't able to decide about which kind of client to target.
There's also a lack of clarity on how they want to make sales that will draw people into their programs.
At first it's likely that you'll be experimenting. That's okay.
But you really want to master those Five Ones.
The Five Ones say that if you are focused only on...
One avatar
One source of traffic
One deal
One enrollment mechanism
For one year
One million dollars in revenues.
When you've reached your million dollars Don't think about the possibility of adding another avatar, a different traffic source, a second promotion, or an additional enrollment mechanism.
Coaches that aren't earning enough money to pay the salaries they'd like think they need to expand their offering as well as more items, avatars, and more sources of traffic ... all in the hope of expanding their client base so that they can bring in more clients.
The exact opposite of the case.
You need to narrow down. Be precise. Choose.
It's not about making the right decision.
It's all about making a choice to make it the right one, and getting it done.
There is a way to make one of them work.
Pick one, and stick with it, till you've reached the million-dollar mark.
I know how hard this can be.
If you have the proper mentorship and support, you will be able to make them succeed.
If somebody else has been successful with it, you know it's possible.
After that, it's simply finding out the specifics.
Client Overwhelm
While coaches enjoy working with our clients and enjoy coaching but sometimes, it's too much.
If you're putting in a lot of 1:1 work with clients, it's easy to get burned out.
You find yourself saying the same things time and time again.
You know this feeling of an amazing thing flowing out of you in an interview, and you don't exactly where it came from. The sensation is incredible!
But now you're bummed that more people won't have the opportunity to listen to your dazzling story as you're sharing this in a private 1:1 meeting!
A few coaches do not just 1:1 work, but they're also doing the work on behalf of those they coach. It's a done-for-you model.
You can raise your rates so you earn more money to coach and maybe take on fewer clients.
However, it's not really scalable.
The most scalable method is to do group coaching.
Craft a group program in which you interact with all of your clients simultaneously.
Templates, frameworks, live group coaching, as well as a community.
You don't only get them, but they also get the other.
This means that, since the amount of clients increase, so will the value of your program.
If you're not currently offering group coaching or if a group-coaching program is not the core of your company, this should be the first thing you consider and should be the "One deal" in your Five Ones.
Systems Overwhelm
These days, it's quite common to have the following: five or seven, eight, or even more different tools to manage your coaching business.
Webhosting similar to Wordpress or Wix
Software for marketing emails or ESP (Email Service Provider) like MailChimp or ConvertKit
Shopping cart like Shopify or Samcart
Course platform or LMS like Teachable or Kajabi
Video hosting such as Vimeo or Wistia
Funnel software, or a page builder such as LeadPages or ClickFunnels
Software for community such as Circle or MightyNetworks
Scheduler such as Calendly or SavvyCal
Survey Tool such as TypeForm, or SurveyMonkey
Affiliate tracking tool such as Tapfiliate and Post Affiliate Pro
Pipeline for Sales similar to Pipedrive or Close.com
CRM like Hubspot or Ontraport
Zapier to connect them all in!
There's some overlap on the list because certain of these tools can do more than one thing.
There may be other words that are frequently used, but I did not include.
You see the list gets pretty long pretty quick.
This doesn't just add up to a hefty monthly bill.
It also adds a lot of your mental capacity.
First, there's the decision exhaustion of deciding on each of these tools.
For each category listed There are a variety of options that each has the advantages and disadvantages, and some of them are in multiple categories.
It is important to test them in all of them, before deciding which one you'll use Then figure out what they'll do when integrated with other components of your stack.
Then comes the real process of integration.
Do they speak directly to one another, or must you use Zapier in order to "zap" them together?
This is another headache, and the connections are weak.
They'll break, especially when you're on vacation, and it's up to you (or your staff if they already have one and they can figure it out) to repair it.
Then there's the psychological bandwidth that comes with needing to switch between programs, with each performing things in a different way.
It causes lots of context switching in which you have to change work style every few minutes.
If you're uploading your logo in more than four places, it might be time to look for a smarter alternative.
With NO zaps.
There is no glue.
No rubber bands.
All your business operations in all in one location.
Like finding your home on the border.
And all the parts talk easily with each other.
Your clients only have to enter their information once, and you can store it in your database.
Connect your opt-in form and have them schedule a strategy session with you.
Easy. Clean. Simple.
