Five Reasons to Join Our New Slack Community: Global SaaS leaders -

Mar 23, 2022

The version that is TL;DR of this article reads like this:

  • We just launched a newly-created (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • It's open to leaders at established SaaS and software businesses (including founders! ).

The reason we're launching a no-cost Slack community

Because communities are amazing!

No, seriously.

There are many others SaaS and software communities out on the market. Many of them are great.

When we began to think about developing the kind of community we'dlike to be a member of, we realized that there was an opportunity to develop something completely new.

For that reason, we created Global SaaS Leaders as a space with five unique qualities:

1. Global perspective

We found many SaaS and software communities which were U.S.-based or centered around a specific location.

Global SaaS Leaders will be distinct. could be somewhere in the U.S., but our customers and the broader SaaS community span across the globe..

When we build our community, we'll be conscious of establishing a broad membership and a global perspective.

2. Designed for leaders from established software and SaaS companies.

The most interesting software conversations we found on the internet were about beginning a new SaaS business:

Discussions like this are valuable for people trying to get started building an SaaS.

In the end, we discovered that it's extremely difficult to find useful discussions between the leaders of well-established software and SaaS companies.

It's the reason we've chosen to build the community of SaaS people who are thinking of growing and scaling an existing software business, not building minimum viable products or securing seed-stage financing.

If you're a life-long entrepreneur that has an unfunded SaaS which is currently generating $10,000 per month, we'd like to connect you with others similar to you.

The same applies if you're the development lead at a venture-backed startup which just crossed the threshold of $10 million per year.

That will be our focus during Global SaaS Leaders: to create a space where you can talk about the challenges unique to your business once you have reached the point of product-market-fit and then begin to scale.

3. Professionally moderated

It is the work of a determined and skilled moderator (or group of moderators!) to create a positive, friendly culture in a group.

There's a lot we've learned by observing the Reddit community r/entrepreneur, as an instance.

But even quality communities like this struggle at times with concentration. It's telling that the No. top thread in the past year was a combative post about the way that cryptocurrency is consuming the stream:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this post!) are the first moderation team when we start our Global SaaS Leaders community.

We have spent more than 10 years of in the field of moderating online communities, with thousands of members.

and the creation and launch of the community is a part of our jobs descriptions.

The conversation will remain focused to SaaS as well as software and we'll ensure that you don't need to contend with unwelcome offers, spam and personal attacks. trolling in any form.

4. Not solely focused on funding or venture capital rounds.

No matter what your situation is, we don't care. bootstrapped, venture-funded, private-equity purchased, or some other ownership structure.

World SaaS Leaders won't be a location that focuses on funding rounds or exit strategies.

Instead, we hope to establish a forum that you can engage in discussions about hiring, revenue and profit tools and pricing strategies, technological infrastructure, and anything other that can contribute to the growth of a successful software business.

It's okay for members to occasionally have discussions about financing. It shouldn't be the sole discussion.

5. The most supportive SaaS Software community online

Certain online communities can be dangerous locations.

Whoever you are, wherever you're from, and whatever you're from, we want you to feel at ease posting and interacting in our community.

Katie me and Katie will try all we can to create and foster a supportive and positive society in this brand new one. And we'll not stand for individual attacks, bigotry, sexual discrimination, racism or any kind of disrespectful behavior.

Our goal is nothing less than this: to establish the most supportive SaaS and software-based community on the internet.

How to Join the Global SaaS Leaders Community

If you're the leader of an established SaaS firm, we'd love to welcome you into our group!

It's not a short application form, but we use it to assess the overall quality of the community -- and also to identify likely spammers.

And there's an FAQ on the application's website which could answer some of your questions.

We'd love to have you join us!
