Control over Community-related notifications both for you and your fellow members
We've changed the settings for community notifications to create a better member experience (and lesser emails). Here's what's new.
How do you inform members of what's going on within your neighborhood?
You want to let your users know about interesting conversations and engage them in more discussions But you need to give your members the ability to control their experience and prevent notification overload. In our conversations with our founders about how crucial that you strike this careful equilibrium.
With the latest update to the community feature which allows you to and your friends have more control over the notifications. That means livelier discussion, no more overflowing inboxes, and a community platform that brings the members and you closer to each other.
Manage your personal notification settings as a creator member
Community members and creators are now able to choose the notifications they'd like to get for each topic: New posts or responses to your comments or new responses to your feedback.
Once you have logged into the community you are a part of Go to Settings Then click "Edit" in the Notifications. (Creators will find this option in the Notifications section of their Account Settings.)

You'll see all of the communities you are following. Simply check or uncheck the boxes to choose the types of notifications you would want to receive from every area.

As an example, you could wish to receive updates for posts, comments, and replies on a topic that's time sensitive like Live Events and Announcements. If you are interested in other subjects such as Announcements, you might want to be only notified when someone makes a new post - or opt out of notification for the topic completely.
You can also quickly toggle your notifications on and off by clicking "Mute all" and "Unmute the entire".
In addition, you can modify your notification preferences per topic conveniently from on the "All topics"page or an individual page for each topic. Select the bell icon then set your notification preferences.

Set default notifications for a topic
Creators are also able to set the default notifications settings for every area of your community. This gives you greater control over how members experience.
Instead of sending notifications to members of your organization for each article in each topic, you can choose which areas your members will be informed about, and what kinds of notifications they get.
Here's how:
From the Community tab on your dashboard, choose "All subjects". After that, you can click "..." next topic that you'd like editing and click "Edit the topic". From there, choose your settings for notifications under "Default notification settings".

Members can change these notification settings at any time to their account. If users haven't altered their settings, they'll default to the settings created by the person who designed every topic.

We're hoping these updates to the community create a better experience for you and your members. Thank you for taking the time to read!
