Black and white photographies - The CreativeMindClass Blog
We inquired with Titika about the key to the mysterious photos in black and white.
"My moniker is Titika Rotkjaer, I'm an artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. Following my studies in communication from Roskilde University, Denmark, I transferred to Norway to pursue a degree in visual arts, first at Oslo National Academy of the Arts then in Bergen, where I finished my study in visual arts in the Bergen Academy of Art and Design with a MA in textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. My knowledge about editing and photography is derived through continuous self-education.
Would you like to learn more about my style? Do I want to talk about style rather than style? I never think about style... Telling stories from an artistic and personal viewpoint Each image is a result of my work intensively on expression, mood, the ambience. Developing how my images appear is an ongoing process. It is my goal to always refine and clarify the expression. Sometimes I re-edit old images when I learn something new that allows me to move closer to the expression I had in mind.
My secret ingredient to create my mysterious photographies ...? For the majority of my photos - made over the last four years - I have been exploring the complexity and the self, and have a particular interest in the relationship between inner and outer realities. Many of my images are not necessarily the same. are constructed digitally of several images (all obviously, shot by me).
My approach usually begins by expressing an interest or curiosity to explore a theme or a complex of emotions. I photograph, take notes, and then read for greater knowledge. I then take another shot. Working with the images often will lead me to create a new one out of many others. I work experimentally, subjectively as well as intuitively with themes to let the photographs develop. I don't have an exact idea of the final product to my eye, and after that, I shoot the components to construct the picture."
