The process of connecting to your authentic self. The essence of what a person is.

Angela Maria Sierra, a Spanish-born artist, portrays true self and emotions she is feeling. This is reflected in figures with rich emotional lives that are full of compassion as well as ease and happiness.

She is better known in the art world under the name Riso Chan - photographer and artist currently in The Netherlands. The artist is about to begin her art journey by creating videos and her very own YouTube channel! It's something that she wanted to do for a very long period of. Bravely storming through the discomfort of talking to the camera, she uploaded an entertaining video of herself working, her life, and her creative surroundings.

Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan talks about accepting her sensitive true self through artwork:

My work is very emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits of the feelings I'm feeling. I have always been a sensitive individual. When I was young I've had a feeling which always made me feel uncomfortable and I tried to get it out of my system. (...) When you get older and realize that you're not alone and that everyone experiences differently. I chose to channel my emotional energy that I carry into my daily life to paint. It is a way to boost my creative juices and generate new ideas. It's amazing that the thing I had been striving to get rid of all day and then, suddenly, I put on a paper, and it was like a huge release. It is now a place where I can utilize this feeling, and I can use these emotions as well as joys, sorrows and feelings to put them down on paper. This was a truly amazing experience and led me to a state of gratefulness. The experience began to resonate with a lot of people too. It was a time of opening myself to putting ideas on paper I'd have never considered prior to. As opposed to trying to become similar to other artists who had already "made it" I listened to what I wanted to say and who I am as an individual. I accepted something I was not happy with about myself , and then realized this was my true power. I'm very happy to be my authentic, sensitive self.
