Art collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog

In the afternoon of Sunday, I caught Olga sharing Instagram posts about my hometown from my youth. In the middle of Warsaw's urban jungle is an undiscovered, revered green zone. I would visit it in summer time to gaze at the beautiful pine trees and breathe in the fresh air of the natural world inside my urban airways. In her story, Olga visited this area for the first time but she also got mesmerized by one of the longest gardens in Warsaw. In the near future, I am sure she will create the Boernerowo-inspired painting.

We asked Olga about her process for creating her minimalist collages and painting of landscapes that are human-shaped.

"My name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. From the time I was a kid, I've been drawing and painting plenty. I went to an art school in high school. I also was a student of painting as well as Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.

I'm an illustrator, painter occasionally graphic designer. Through my work, I examine the interplay between humans and nature, paying close attention to how we influence the environment in our backyards. Through observing trimmed hedges, decorative plants, and well-designed home gardens I'm trying to capture the mysterious environment that surrounds us."

"For some time, I've also been creating simple collages. The compositions are drawn from landscapes, still life, or are made as the result of experimentation with forms, textures as well as colours.

My style is eclectic because painting and collages are quite different. However, they share one thing that they share: they relax. I've heard this phrase repeatedly from my viewers and believe that is the best description of my work. When I'm tired of painting, I create collages. The reverse is also true. A certain style can be a brief getaway from the different.

I believe that being aware is essential. I carefully observe everything around me: the environment, architecture and objects. The result is my artwork. My artworks do not see a human being, but we get the feeling of humans in the hedges that are trimmed or in a mug left at the end of the dining table."
