Art and fiber - The CreativeMindClass Blog
The fiber-artist, Amanda Adams
I'm a fiber-artist and illustrator living in Baltimore. I came to Baltimore in order to go to MICA, the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and that's where Nicole Mueller and I met and made friends. We also started Beyond the Studio. Beyond the Studio podcast together. Over the last nine years I've built up my own small business in the field of art called close Call Studio where I work all day long.
What is your personal style?
My approach to art making, whether drawing, sewing or drawing is not self-conscious, designed to please and inspire people. It's possible to be moody and explicit and some of my pieces can seem a bit darker, but I always have an element of comedy and fun to be found.
What is the key in creating your artwork?
The process varies from season to season but currently holding the mindset of "no stress" in the studio is a must for me in the present. I've been a huge quantity of stress on myself that didn't show well in my work or life so creating the space to relax and enjoy gardening are just as imperative for my work like sitting down and drawing.
