An authentic art form Art Authenticity : The CreativeMindClass Blog

Connecting to your true self. The essence of what a person is.

Angela Maria Sierra, a Spaniard-born artist, depicts her true herself and the emotions she's going through. It is evident in her models with a rich emotional life that are full of compassion as well as ease and happiness.

She is known to the art world as Riso Chan - the portrait artist as well as an artist currently within The Netherlands. She just started her new creative journey through videos as well as the creation of her own YouTube channel! It's something that she had wanted to create for a lengthy time. Bravely storming through the awkwardness of speaking to the camera, she uploaded a fun-to-watch video about herself as well as her work and the creative environment in which she lives.

Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan on embracing her authentic self in her art work:

My work is extremely emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits which depict the emotions that I feel. I have always been a sensitive person. From the time I was a kid there was something that made me feel uneasy and I attempted to get it out of my system. (...) When you get older, you realise that actually everything is fine and everybody feels different. I chose to channel my emotional energy that I carry into my daily life and start painting. It is a way to boost my imagination and spark fresh ideas. That is amazing because something that I was trying to push down for all of my life suddenly I was able to put it on paper, and it felt like such a relief. It is now a place where I can make use of this sense, where I can use these emotions, pains, and joys and put them on paper. This was a truly amazing experience and took me to a place where I felt grateful. It started resonating with a many others. It was a time of opening myself to putting ideas on paper I'd did not think of previously. In lieu of trying to become the same as other artists who have already "made it" I listened to what I want to convey and who I am as an individual. I accepted something I was not happy with about myself and I realised it is actually my superpower. I'm very happy to be my true sensitive self.
