Course creators are always seeking ways to improve their classes. One of the best methods to achieve this is by being attentive to the students.

But the problem is that a lot of students in your class won't be capable of telling you the events happening within your class. Students will leave, shut down their account, or take the class only to disappear but you'll never know what happened to them.

The tracking of online course metrics allows you to determine what students think about your course, and the ways to improve it.

It's not just about counting the number of learners who finish a course. No course will have the exact time of completion when life events occur or when a student's motives change or the circumstances shift.

At a fundamental level, the students who take your class at a good pace are most likely enthusiastic and actively engaged. This could be a sign of a successful courses that you could copy or share with other students.

When monitoring course progression, consider asking these concerns:

  • How long does that it will take for a student to finish a course?
  • How fast do they progress through each topic and lesson?
  • What concepts seem easy but which are difficult?
  • If they're consistently pulling the line, how can I do to help make the course clearer?

The fact that a student has completed a course doesn't mean they loved it. It is possible to distribute an assessment after the course is completed (and after the students are aware that their views won't influence the final score.) A quick exit survey can capture initial impressions.
